MDMAWV Press Conference
Roy
L.
Cooke's
Statement
Monday,
November
26,
2007
|
What
is
about
to
happen
in
the
State
of
West
Virginia,
is
one
of
the
rarest
of
events...
The
creation
of
a
monument
so
unique
that
there
is
nothing
else
in
the
world
like
it.
The
History
and
Culture
Institute
of
Mining
It
is
conceived
as
an
all-encompassing
commemoration
of
humankind's
mining
heritage.
The
setting
is
a
beautiful
hilltop,
with
a
panoramic,
360-degree
view,
and
is
adjacent
to
Interstate
79,
north.
This
location
was
chosen
because
it
is
in
the
very
heart
and
soul
of
the
Appalachian
coalfields
and
the
birthplace
of
State
of
West
Virginia.
We
believe
that
in
all
aspects,
this
is
the
perfect
location
for
this
monument...
Here
in
the
foothills
of
the
Monongahela
River
Valley,
in
Marion
County,
West
Virginia.
The
musem
architecture
itself
will
be
derived
from
the
designs
of
Frank
Lloyd
Wright.
You
are
invited
to
join
us
as
we
make
history.
An
opportunity
like
this
comes
along
only
once.
The
result
is
destined
to
last
for
lifetimes. |
